Managing large Dialogflow ES bots

There are three challenges with building and managing large Dialogflow ES bots. But you can make the task easier by building tools.

Adding training phrases

When you have hundreds of training phrases, it can be quite hard to type all of them into Dialogflow one by one. One option to automate this process is by using Dialogflow’s REST API by custom building a connector from your data source.

But if you are not a programmer, there is a much simpler option. You can type all your intent training phrases into a spreadsheet software like MS Excel or Google Sheets, export the file to CSV format, and use my bot generator to convert it into a Dialogflow agent ZIP file with the click of a mouse.

Search across all intents

When you have a large ES bot, you might want to see which intent has which training phrases, as you keep updating them. Since ES does not provide a quick way to search across all the intents, this can be quite challenging.

However, you can use my ZIP to CSV converter to convert the agent ZIP file into a CSV format which you can open inside your spreadsheet software. In addition to making it easier to search, this will also make it easier to organize your training phrases and view them at a glance.

Track changes

When you build large Dialogflow ES bots, one of the biggest challenges is keeping track of changes across multiple bot versions. For example, a tool which can track changes between an existing production version (agent ZIP file) and the draft version (ZIP file) will help you avoid accidentally overwriting some important stuff. You can use my VersionDiff tool to monitor the changes between different agent ZIP file versions.
