Dialogflow CX system functions

I have added a chapter on system functions to my Dialogflow CX course.

The first three lessons here are sample lessons which you can preview for free.

The first lesson introduces the concept of system functions.

Introduction

The second lesson introduces the quiz bot which will be used to explain the concepts in the chapter.

The quiz bot

The third lesson explains how to use system functions inside regular text responses.

The key concept is that you need to cast the function output to string using TO_TEXT before you can use it inside the text response.

Text response

The fourth lesson explains how you can use system functions inside conditional responses

Conditional response

The fifth lesson explains how to use system functions inside custom payloads for Dialogflow Messenger integration. This is not very different from regular text responses.

Custom Payload

The sixth lesson explains how to use system functions in parameter presets.

Parameter Presets

The seventh lesson explains how to use system functions inside conditional routes

Condition Routes

You can download the agent blob file in the final lesson of the chapter.

"The magic key I needed as a non-programmer"

The custom payload generator was the magic key I needed (as a non-programmer) to build a good demo with rich responses in DialogFlow Messenger. I've only used it for 30 minutes and am thrilled. I've spent hours trying to figure out some of the intricacies of DialogFlow on my own. Over and over, I kept coming back to Aravind's tutorials available on-line. I trust the other functionalities I learn to use in the app will save me additional time and heartburn.
